Retail Career Seminar November 2013

On the 20th of November 2013, a retail career seminar was held at Level 2 Block B.

We were honoured and grateful to have guests from these well-established companies to share their knowledge, experiences and talk about the scholarships on offer.

Planning

Our team was tasked to facilitate the Retail seminar which was part of the Retail Career fair that was managed by Team 4.

To plan this event, we set a very clear and detailed list of things to be done and a proper manpower list to ensure that everyone has a part to play and execute it well.

Our first task was to familiarise ourselves with the three seminar rooms. We needed to know its seating capacities and ensure that we have enough chairs for everyone. Beforehand, we searched for extra chairs that are in good condition and that are appropriate for the venue to accommodate staff and students who are interested to attend the talks but weren't able to register. After which, we finalised the fixtures needed and the signage/posters to be displayed along the corridors for directions.

Executing

On the actual day, we set up the seminar rooms early by putting in the extra chairs, arranged the signage, the registration table and name lists of attendees. The seminar talks were held at B 203, B 203A and B 204 with a total of 82 attendees. During the talks, the speakers gave an overview about their companies, operations, the brands they hold, various career opportunities and more. The speakers were also patient and delighted to answer the student's queries. Moreover, they gave generous and exciting goody bags to all attendees and staff.

To sum it up, it has been a great opportunity for us to help out in this seminar which has a line up of big and reputable companies. It was important for us to create a good impression for the guests by ensuring the smooth flow of the registrations and that the set up was up to a professional standard.
